Biographie
Daniel Andres wurde 1937 in Biel geboren. Mit sechs Jahren erster Klavierunterricht. Ab 11 Jahren Violine und zwei Jahre später Bratsche. Nach der obligatorischen Schulzeit Eintritt ins Lehrerseminar Bern-Hofwil. Ab 18 Jahren Orgelunterricht und zusätzlich Harmonielehre und erster Kompositionsunterricht bei Prof. Sandor Veress am Konservatorium Bern. Abschluss am Konservatorium Bern mit Lehrdiplom für Orgel (Otto Schaerer, Organist an der Französischen Kirche Bern) und Lehrdiplom für Theoriefächer (Prof. Sandor Veress). Konzertausbildung für Orgel bei Otto Schaerer. Meisterkurs Komposition Herbst 1976 bei Kasimierz Serocki (Musikakademie Basel)
Erste Aufführung von Kompositionen mit 16 Jahren. 1962 in Biel Gründung der "Camerata Biel" (Kammerorchester mit 11 bis 20 Musikern, 1966 aufgelöst). Mit der "Camerata Biel" als Dirigent u.a. Aufführung von eigenen Werken (Evolutions, Kleine lyrische Fantasie) und Arbeit mit Solisten wie Hansheinz Schneeberger, Violine, Charles Dobler, Klavier. Nach einigen Jahren als Berufsjournalist und Aufenthalt in Lausanne wurde Daniel Andres 1972 Kapellmeister, Chordirektor und Korrepetitor am Bieler Stadttheater und beim Bieler Symphonieorchester. Ab 1986 Präsident der Bieler Sommerakademie, ab 1990 Präsident und künstlerischer Leiter des Bielersee-Festivals. Konzerte als Dirigent mit den Orchestern von Budweis, Teplice, Ostrava, sowie mit dem Suk-Kammerorchester und den "Solisti di Praga" in der Schweiz und in er Tschechischen Republik mit Solisten wie Vaclav Snitil, Josef Suk, Boris Monoszon (Violine), Jana Jonasova (Sopran), Martin Christ, Nigel Coxe, Gustav Gertsch (Klavier). Seine Werke wurden vor allem vom Bieler Symphonieorchester und der Bieler Oper, aber auch in den USA, Tschechien, Frankreich, Holland aufgeführt.
Im Laufe der Jahre Tätigkeiten als Berufsjournalist, Buchhändler/Antiquar/Verleger, Politiker auf Gemeinde-,Kantons- und Bundesebene.
Daniel Andres erhielt mehrere Werkbeiträge von Stadt Biel und Kanton Bern, zuletzt im Herbst 2002. 1979 erhielt er zudem den Kulturpreis der Wochenzeitung "BIEL-BIENNE". 2016 Kompositionsauftrag des Sinfonieorchesters Biel Solothurn "Sinfonia concertante (...wie ein Haschen nach Wind), uraufgeführt am 26. März 2017 in Biel, Kongresshaus. 2020 Werkbeitrag Stadt Biel und Kanton Bern für Streichquartett Nr. 5
2004 veröffentlichte er einen autobiographischen Roman "Mösli" - Eine Kindheit (Verlag die brotsuppe, Biel CH). Lebt in Biel als freischaffender Komponist, Organist, Chorleiter und Musikkritiker.
Daniel Andres was born 1937 in Biel (Switzerland). He began to play piano at the age of six years. With 11 years he began violin and two years later viola. After the obligatory school and the teachers school he entered at the Bern Conservatory. With Sandor Veress he studied composition and with Otto Schaerer organ. He founded and directed in 1963 the chamber orchestra "Camerata Biel". With this ensemble he created works of him self and other composers (f.e. Jost Meier) and played with soloists as Hansheinz Schneeberger, violin, Charles Dobler, piano, a.o.
1972 Daniel Andres became a conductor at the Biel Opera and conduct many Operas, Operettes and Symphony Concerts. He was also journalist by important Swiss newspapers. 1985-1989 president of the International Summer Academy at Biel, 1990-1995 artistic director and administrator of "Bielersee-Festival" (Festival of Biel Lake). Many concerts in Switzerland, France, Czech Republic with soloists as Vaclav Snitil, violin, Jana Jonaskova, soprano, Stanley Dodds, violin, Josef Suk, violin, the pianists Martin Christ, Gustav Gertsch, Nigel Coxe a.o.
His works was performed by the Biel Symphony Orchestra, Biel Opera, the Northern Bohemian Philharmonic, soloists and chamber music ensembles as the Kocian Quartet (Prague), the Amarena Quartet (Berne).
